Technical Specifications

It uses a powerful 3/4 HP chain drive system, that undoubtedly can provide an increased level of security for your garage. Usually, the chain drive systems are noisier than the belt-driven ones, but this model is quiet for a chain drive opener. According to the manufacture’s specifications, it can lift doors up to 7 feet tall and 18 feet wide, with the possibility to buy a door height extension kit that will allow you to lift taller door, up to 10 feet. All the parts used for producing it are made of high-quality materials, being at the same time very durable. It is easy to install and it features non-polarized wiring, so you won’t encounter any problems regarding any possible wiring error. The main body of the opening system also has a dual light lighting system with two 100-watt light bulbs which are sold separately. Furthermore, the manufacturer stated that all the Decko openers, including this model, go through a 20-point quality control inspection, thus you have the confirmation regarding the quality of the opener.

Safety and Security Features

People who choose to buy an automatic door opener want to make sure that all their valuables, including their car, are well-secured. For, this reason, customers need to invest in a performant product that can ease their mind. Among the most impressive features are the motion-activated light which turns on the light every time it senses motion and the safety beam sensor which instantly stops the door from closing whenever the beam is interrupted by a person or an object. Moreover, another great safety feature is the automatic reverse which automatically stops and reverses the door in case an object is accidentally placed below the door, thus preventing damaging it. Additionally, some customer says the device is compatible with the HomeLink system, although it’s not included in the specifications. The bad news is that it lacks some truly helpful features such as a battery backup in case of a power outage, a rolling code that automatically changes the code when you open or close the door, or the soft start and stop technology. However, this device is still a trustful choice for many people, due to the fact that it ensures a great level of safety and security at a reasonable price.

Accessories

The accessories included with the main unit are a three-function wall panel with options for lighting, locking, and opening/closing the opener, a wireless keyless entry pad and two remote controls with three buttons for increased convenience. Also, it comes with optical safety sensors and a 200-watt lighting system. Furthermore, the model has included a detailed user manual that will guide you through the installation process, so you won’t need the help of a professional. All the accessories can be found in the box, the only exception being the light bulbs.

Warranty and Support

In what concerns the warranty, you will surely love the fact that it comes with a lifetime limited motor warranty. However, there is no included guarantee for the parts or lifting system which is rather disappointing. Furthermore, it comes with a user manual for helping you accomplish the installation process, while you can also access the manufacture’s official website. Additionally, in case you have any other questions, you can call the customer service and ask them for further details.

Final Thoughts

We analyzed various aspects of this garage door opener in order to draw some conclusions and determine which are its drawbacks and advantages. Although it’s not the most advanced nor the most affordable opener, it is packed with some useful features that justify its price. Here, we mention the safety beam sensors, the automatic reverse, or the motion sensor lights. However, we couldn’t help but notice that it is not compatible with any internet connection and that it doesn’t come with a battery backup that would make it functional in case the power runs out.

Pros

  • Very quiet for a chain drive
  • Automatic reverse to turn the door from its path
  • Motion-activated lights for visibility
  • Safety beam sensor that stops the door from hurting someone
  • Generous lifetime warranty

Cons

  • No battery backup for power shortage
  • The lack of a rolling code technology
  • Not internet-compatible

How secure is this door opener if it doesn’t feature Rolling Code technology? I’ve heard that it’s a very useful option.

This feature enables the opener to set a new random code every time you open and close the door so that it will keep hackers from getting the signals from the previous code. This means that the garage door would be two times more secured. However, not including the feature doesn’t mean that anyone can break into your garage but the chances of someone hacking into the system are higher.

I have recently installed the Decko 24300 on my aluminum garage door and I can tell you that it’s quite silent for a chain-drive device. Hands down for that!

It sais that it can handle door that are 7 feet tall. If my door is 8 feet, will I have to buy an extension kit?

No, the opener works fine for doors that are 8 feet wide and tall. For larger doors, however, extension bar and chain will be required.
